Planetarium in Thrissur

The Thrissur Planetarium located at chalakkudy will be opened to the public in the near future. The planetarium aims at spreading and infusing the knowledge about science and astronomy. The planetarium presents educational and entertaining shows related to celestial navigation, astronomy and night sky. It contains state of the art infrastructure and uses latest technologies to bring a natural effect of being in space. The planetarium which is located near to Panampilly College, is the third of its kind in Kerala. The planetarium offers the talks and lectures of famous scientists, scholars, astronomers and also takes initiative in conducting various events and contests for students.

Athirappilly water falls:
The Athirappilly water falls, one of the largest waterfalls of kerala is located in the Western Ghats. The forests of the Athirappilly-Vazhachal is rich with various species of flora and fauna. The endangered hornbill species is only found in this area of Western Ghats. Here the water is falling from a height of 80 feet. The scenic combination of little streams and forests make it the favorite destination of tourist.
This waterfalls is just 31.3 km away from planetarium.


St. Mary's Forane Church:
St. Mary's Forane Church, Chalakudy is the shrine of Holy Mary. The church has an holy land which depicts the entire life of christ and holy mysteries of rosary and way of cross.

Thumboormuzhi dam and the butterfly park:
Thumboormuzhi dam and the butterfly park is built across the Chalakudy River, and is located close to Athirappilly waterfalls. This area is the natural habitat of butterflies, where we could see about 148 species of butterflies.


The Divine Retreat Centre:
The Divine Retreat Centre located at Muringoor, Chalakudy is the largest Catholic retreat centre in the world.The center is managed and run by Vincentian Congregation of India.
The retreat center is 9 km away from planetarium.
